The Challenges
With the structure sitting adjacent to the Calgary International Airport, plenty of planning went into the construction as it required various permits due to height restrictions. In order to have approval to use a crane, applications had to be submitted to NAV CANADA to gain permits.
The project duration spanned a year and required various scopes of work to be performed during winter months.
The Solutions
In order for the project to be completed on time and remain on schedule, coordination of various moving pieces as well as maintaining sufficient manpower onsite was key; it was also imperative that we took advantage of warmer days when they did occur.
For when the colder weather was a factor, heating considerations were accommodated in the construction methodology and temporary structures.
